Top 10 NHL Contracts (2005-2018): Most Games Played Without a Playoff Game

Which NHL non-entry level contracts signed from 2005-2018 have played the most regular season games without a playoff game? This list does include players who have not yet completed their contracts, so there's still a chance that some will make the playoffs in 2019, and if they don't, they'll only climb higher on the list. It's also worth pointing out that some of these guys played playoff games before these contracts came into effect. This is zero playoffs under a specific contract.

1. Oliver Ekman-Larsson, signed Mar 15 2013 by Don Maloney398 GP without playing in the playoffs, all in Phoenix. One year remaining on a 6 yr $33M deal.

2. Jeff Skinner, signed Aug 8 2012 by Jim Rutherford391 GP without playing in the playoffs, all in Carolina. One year remaining on a 6 year $34.4M deal.

3. Jordan Staal, signed July 1 2012 by Jim Rutherford364 GP without playing in the playoffs, all in Carolina. Five years remaining on a 10 year $60M deal. He's got 5 years to make the playoffs, but I'm not sure Carolina is trending in the right direction. Staal had made the playoffs all 5 years of his career prior to signing this contract.

4. Ales Hemsky, signed July 25 2006 by Kevin Lowe348 GP without playing in the playoffs. He played 6 seasons, earning $24.6M, all in Edmonton, and never played a playoff game.

5. Ron Hainsey, signed July 2 2008 by Don Waddell346 GP without playing in the playoffs, all in Atlanta/Winnipeg. He played 5 seasons, earning $22.5M, and never played a playoff game.

6. Matt Duchene, signed July 18 2013 by Greg Sherman317 GP without playing in the playoffs, split between Colorado and Ottawa. One year remaining on a 5 year $30M deal.

7. Mark Giordano, signed Oct 29 2010 by Darryl Sutter315 GP without playing in the playoffs, all in Calgary. He played 5 seasons, earning $20.1M, and never played a playoff game.
